English Carved Oak Writing Slope Desk Box circa 1660 – 80. The front is carved with a symmetrical design of two Dragons facing each other with arrow shaped tongues out. The interior has a moulded shelf compartment. The hinges are the original “Butterfly” examples attached to the top which is of good colour and surface quality. Below the later lock plate is the initial “B” together with the initial “I” which appears to have been chiselled off.
