This is a fine example of an Alsace Spruce Trestle Table, circa 1525 – 1550.  The single plank top is of outstanding surface quality and the primitively fashioned trestles have a lovely rustic feel to them.  The central stretcher is original and the two lower outer stretchers are replacements.  For a table of similar form of construction see “Le Moyen Age a la Renaissance”, Jacqueline Boccador, Page 22, Figure 16
