Armchair

Stock No 1149

English Oak Wainscot Armchair, Lancashire, circa 1680, of outstanding quality and colour.  It has uprights with Pyramid finials between which is a cresting rail with running ornamented “S” scrolls, above which are three cut-outs decorated with flower heads.  The back panel is an abstract decorated Lozenge with flower buds in outline at the end of the four points.  The rest of the panel is plain apart from a simple whorl in the four quadrants around the lozenge.  The arm supports have plain ring turned supports, which are echoed in design by the front legs.  The chair is completely original apart from one small “fill-it” to the left hand back of the seat.  There is also a shrinkage crack to the back panel.

Price:  £4750
