Stock No. 1171
This is a small nineteenth century Primitive Armchair, probably Welsh, presumably made for a particular adult of relatively petite size. It is high on its legs with an comparatively low back resulting in an attractive overall shape and proportion. The seat is of Beech, and the rail, sticks and legs are in Ash. The particularly unusual element to this chair is the feature of two back stretchers which as well as being visually striking also adds to its overall stability. There is a lot of original red paint although someone in the past has scraped some of it off.
Dimensions: Height 74 centimetres, Width 49 centimetres, Depth 35 centimetres, Height to seat 43.5 centimetres
