Three Carved Panels
Stock No 2502
Three English Oak carved panels, circa 1530. They are of good natural surface condition and light brown colour. The larger panel depicts an Angel which quite unusually has foliate, rather than feathered wings. It is on top of a foliate embellished Ciborium from the base of which are a pair of symmetrical tendrils in the form of “S” scrolls.. The two slightly smaller doors are a pair with a central foliated chalice between two heads emerging from tendrils, and in the form of “Green Men”. They were most probably all doors on a cupboard and there are nail holes and/or patches where hinges would have been fixed.
Dimensions: Angel Panel – Height 28 centimetres, Width 37 centimetres
