Stock No 2554
Pair of charming Elizabethan Oak carved panels, probably from a cupboard, circa 1580, of high quality and deeply incised one depicting a pair of addorsed birds’ heads carved above a scrolled pattern below them which forms a “Heart” motif at the base of the design, the other with a pair of birds above leaves and flower heads. There is rope-work framing towards the outer edges of the panels, which is repeated within the designs . One panel has a small loss arising from sap wood down the top left hand edge, but the existing timber is all completely sound.
