Pair of Spandrels
Stock No. 2779
Pair of English Oak Spandrels. Circa 1450. They were probably originally built in a doorhead to a four foot plus aperture. They are carved with great skill and have the utmost vigour. One is completely foliate in design. The other whilst incorporating elements of the same foliate ,motifs, incorporates into it a most striking “Green Man” mask. The Green Man spandrel has had some glue repairs to what looks like splits incurred when it was removed from its original structure.
