About Shaw Edwards Antiques
Shaw Edwards Antiques was set up by Shaw and Valerie Edwards at the end of the 1990s. The business offers a range of interior decorative items including Early English Oak Furniture and Carvings predominantly from the late Medieval and early Renaissance periods, together with later period high-quality Country pieces. including Primitive Chairs.
Shaw and Valerie have been involved with antiques since the mid-1960s with a particularly focus on Medieval, Gothic and Renaissance Antiques. Shaw has studied the art of the late Medieval and early Renaissance periods in some considerable depth. Shaw and Valerie are both members of the British Antique Dealers Association, BADA, and the International Confederation of Art and Antiques Dealers Associations, CINOA.
For over ten years they were regular exhibitors at the BADA Fair held at the Duke of York Square in London, and the LAPADA Fair held at Berkeley Square in London, both on an annual basis. They have also exhibited at other London venues, and around England, but in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic Shaw and Valerie have decided to stop exhibiting at Fairs for the time being and to run their business from home via this website. Over the years they have developed a private customer base not only in the UK, but also across Europe, the USA, South America, and the Antipodes.
People are very welcome to see any item of interest by appointment, or to discuss them by telephone, or through email correspondence. Please note that Shaw and Valerie no longer have a showroom in Devon, but they are happy, where practicable by prior arrangement, to show stock to prospective buyers by taking items to them at a mutually convenient location. Alternatively, people are always welcome to visit for a cup of tea or coffee, and to see items of stock in their homes in Berkshire or Devon whichever is the more convenient. They are also always willing to give advice and discuss items from the periods that they specialise in.
